History of Business
Family-owned and operated since 1983, CMI is based in Wyckoff, New Jersey and is proud to be a 100% US-based business. As a full-service medical billing and practice management company which specializes in anesthesia billing, we serve providers throughout the entire United States.
Our four decades of experience has positioned CMI to provide personal services like no other. Over the years we have formed strategic relationships with key insurance and political representatives which enhance our ability to stay ahead of healthcare policies that impact your bottom line.
President and CEO
Shawn founded CMI in 1983 after receiving a hand-written statement from the anesthesiologist who administered her labor epidural. His medical biller had found another job and the anesthesiologist had been attempting to handle billing on his own. Seeing an opportunity to assist the doctor and generate some supplemental income for her family, Shawn leveraged her accounting experience and offered help. Today, CMI has become an industry-leader in revenue cycle management within the anesthesia specialty. As a seasoned veteran of the healthcare industry, Shawn is responsible for the day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives of CMI. Though technology has allowed the firm to dramatically expand, the personal attention given to Shawn’s very first client is still given to all present-day clients.
Chief Operating Officer
Brian has more than 18 years of revenue cycle management and consulting experience. His passion for continuous improvement and growth in the healthcare industry has become an essential factor in leading the day-to-day operations of CMI. Brian's primary focus has been in revenue cycle process improvement/automation, payer contracting, systems integration, patient collections, and detailed analytics. He directs all client relationship management services and onsite support, as well as all sales and marketing efforts for new business development. This involves finding prospective clients as well as coordinating activities between current clients, their staff, and CMI team members to accomplish their shared objectives. Brian’s high energy, fiscally conscious, and goal-driven personality, also extends to his commitment to numerous professional associations and multiple non-profits.
Vice President of Practice Management
Jennifer began her career at CMI in 1990 as a medical biller. Over the years, and through comprehensive training and experience, Jennifer has become an expert in the area of cardiothoracic anesthesia. In her present role, she’s not only responsible for the supervision of this business segment but she is also an active participant in the day-to-day engagement with medical practices, patients, and insurance carriers. In addition to her operational role, Jennifer also manages various Human Resource functions including payroll, team engagement, and other compliance initiatives.
